I remember playing in Wal Mart downtown, lights bright, cutting. Scent of plastic and antiperspirant, clothes folded in tall piles, hung on jungle gym racks. Hiding from our parents between long pants, peering out, gasp when a large hand pulls a pair aside, it tastes of heavy denim, dry tongue salty with nerves. Stepping behind shelves like bunkers I slip behind pillows and five dollar film bins. Hear my name on the speakers, calling me to the front of the store. Shopping carts, metal and bulky I bump into one, cold metal bruising my shin I yelp. See mom's --
