This street needs a sign, not for a painstakingly slow speed limit to quell overzealous drivers with lead feet and fire in their eyes, not to turn the street into a wide black camel with humps that send brains bouncing against their head cavities while shock absorbers fail to insulate the sudden upper movement and downward drop of a speed bump. The sign will not address the cars parked on either side reducing the flow of traffic to a single lane or the dogs running behind fences furiously jabbering on about potential threats threading past the property. No, this sign will be about the bride, just short enough to discourage most seasoned truck drivers to take another route. Their towering loads as long as a whale drift confidently down the street stopped by this raised horizontal obstacle and incapable of the limbo, their 3-point turns often skip across sidewalks and turn a blind eye to smaller vehicles catapulting down the road. These single-storey hippos look like fish out of water while their alarm sounds an endless beep that finds itself reflected into an echo of children tugging at your ear repeating "Mum, Mum, Mum, Mum, Mum...". Yes, this street needs a sign.
