Stately flowers that remind me of the Louisiana's fleur de lis, royal purple and gold, the iris is a complicated flower. Dragon mouth, with yellow throat, and dinosaur crest on top, coupled with a velvety, silky texture and colors that fade to pastels. Spikey

green leaves that shoot like rockets from the ground, coming from barrel-like tubers. I feel the contrast in my eyes- the sharp leaves and the frilly lace petals, danger and beauty melded together, and I am drawn in to the dance as the head gently dances in a light breeze.  The spent flowers, brown like cigarettes in a gutter, tobacco stains coloring the once beautiful whites, remind me of how fleeting these flowers are, burning brightly for a moment in their green sky, too soon snuffed
