31  ObjectWriting / Object Writing Word Of The Day / Constellations on: December 28, 2017, 10:01:57 AM
Once again my thoughts return to you
The magical times that we shared.
The first time that I laid eyes on you
The feelings I was never prepared
To feel run through my body
As we looked up at the sky
Trying to make sense of the constellations
Of all the stars that passed us by.
Three years we spent together
Before I went away
But a part of me will be with you forever
A part of me will stay
Sat on that rocky outcrop
By the edge of the lake
Drinking in that glorious view
And making sure that I never forget this feeling
That I felt when I was with you.
The Adirondacks made me feel alive
And I owe it all to you.
32  ObjectWriting / Object Writing Word Of The Day / Release on: December 27, 2017, 10:21:43 AM
Release me from my shackles.
Please give me the key?
Release me from this prison cell
So that I can be set free.

Torment ever rising
Pain too much to bear
The pain of certain knowing
That I will never see you there.
A curse that has consumed me
A longing for the past
A fragile way of living
That was shattered like glass.

Naive misunderstanding
Of the corruption of my soul
That led to my implosion
Self destruction as a whole
I wrote a thousand letters
Of the things I want to say
The words I couldnít comprehend
On that dreaded day.

I know that you canít hear me
I know that you donít care
But I beg in the faintest hope
That you may become aware
That I have been locked inside this prison cell
For what feels like an age
And I dream of the day that I next see your face
And you release me from this cage.
33  ObjectWriting / Object Writing Word Of The Day / Helicopter on: December 21, 2017, 01:51:26 PM
Soar high above the floodplains
In the safety of the sky.
Survey the desolation
Looking down from on high.
Like the Gods on Mount Olympus
Watching over their domain
You take pity on the suffering
And you want to ease their pain.
However, there is an order
To how things must be done
The world must see them suffer
Before the rescue has begun.
You zoom in with your camera
At what is left of peoples homes
They donít realise that you are watching
They think they are all alone.
Like a voyeur you keep on filming
Beam straight to national TV
To show the rest of the world
How bad things can be.
We like to see the suffering
When we first turn on the news
The crying and the bloodshed
Help to sway our views.
So you circle in your helicopter
And you film all that you can
And you wait for the next horrific disaster
So that you can do it all again.
34  ObjectWriting / Object Writing Word Of The Day / Dance on: December 20, 2017, 01:21:44 PM
I never learned to dance
But that has never stopped me trying
If I told you that I could
You would know that I was lying.
My feet move out of time
My arms just flail about.
People just stand and stare
And hope that someone will kick me out.
Yet when you stand on stage
My whole world comes alive
There is a beauty in your dancing
That my body has deprived.
The way you move your body
With majesty and grace
The way I canít stop staring
As you move about the place.
I may never be a dancer
But I know what I see.
From the first time I saw you dancing
I knew you were the only one for me.
35  ObjectWriting / Object Writing Word Of The Day / Peppermint on: December 18, 2017, 03:23:11 PM
The nights are growing longer.
The streets are turning grey.
Mother nature makes it clear
That winter is here to stay.

The atmosphere grows colder,
But we see a shining light
In the window of a little shop
That is sure to bring delight.

All the colours of the rainbow
Shine in a beautiful display.
Jelly tots and lollipops
Arranged in sweet bouquets.

The air smells sweet like sugar.
The music brings a smile.
This is an equal paradise
For both adult and for child.

Candy canes of peppermint.
Every kind of chocolate bar.
Anything you could have dreamt of
Is stored in massive jars.

The cold may make you thrown,
But you will always leave with a grin
When you take the time to visit
Magical Mr Simms.
36  ObjectWriting / Object Writing Word Of The Day / Elephant on: December 15, 2017, 11:58:32 AM
We tell each other legends of when the Giants walked the Earth
The monumental creatures from the past.
Yet we seem determined to extinguish anything that is left
Like a virus we destroy what ever is in our path.
Many creatures of beauty will not be seen again
Due to the actions of mankind
There are many more who are facing steep decline
As our species continues to find
New ways to destroy the world that we live in
By poaching, pollution and war.
If we remain on this path there will soon be nothing left
Except faded photos of the world we knew before.
37  ObjectWriting / Object Writing Word Of The Day / Dolly on: December 13, 2017, 11:55:27 AM
Straight out the windows the music blares
As we speed down the interstate.
Thereís still a thousand miles ahead on our three day trip
So we keep on driving straight.
Straight through the hearts of Texas and Nashville Tennessee
Only stopping briefly as we pass
To pay tribute to the legends like Johnny Cash and Elvis
Who inspired us all to pick up our guitars.
As we may our way through Carolina, Dolly Parton starts a-singing
Jolene Jolene on the radio.
We sing along in unison and yet we keep on driving
The volume up as loud as it can go.
We arrived before we knew it, in grand old New York City
There was sadness as our drive came to a close.
As it is not the destination, but the journey that is important
When you are surrounded by the ones you love the most.
38  ObjectWriting / Object Writing Word Of The Day / Glitter on: December 12, 2017, 12:25:06 PM
Together we lie on the cold stony bank that stretches out into the lake. We awkwardly humble in the dark to find each others hand before linking our fingers and giving each other an affectionate squeeze. The ground may not be the comfiest around, but it is dry and any displeasure that it may have caused us is instant redeemed by the sight that we see before us. For the past three years I have been returning to this place and I donít think that I will ever become immune to the charms of the Adirondack stars. The sheer magnitude of the milky way as it shines directly above us and reflects off of the lakes surface is enough to bring a tear to my eye. I turn around to face you and I can see the stars sparkly like glitter in your eyes. A single tear runs down your cheek as you too are overwhelmed by the pure and natural beauty that we are witnessing. No words need to be said for us both to appreciate how lucky we are to share this moment together. To witness the universe in all of its glory and to say that for a short period of time, this was our home.
39  ObjectWriting / Object Writing Word Of The Day / Skate on: December 11, 2017, 02:21:47 PM
I canít quite remember how old I was when I first wore a pair of skates.
I think I was about seven or eight.
I remember going round in circles in the garden of our house
Never having enough room to move straight.
There was a wonderful short period when everyone at school
Had their birthdays at the local gym and centre for sports.
We all would bring our skates and race each other
Speeding up and down the basketball courts.
We never really learned to match each others speeds
So we never got the chance to converse
As we sped past one another we would try and just show off
By spinning round or skating in reverse.
Last year I wore some skates for the first time in many years
And like a spell they brought me straight back to that age.
The excitement of my youth felt with the wheels upon my feet
I felt free like I had broken from my cage.
It is important to remember the simple things that brought us joy
When we were too young to know the troubles on this Earth.
So that we can return to our past happiness through the simplest of joys
To remind us what our lives are truly worth.
40  ObjectWriting / Object Writing Word Of The Day / Flake on: December 02, 2017, 09:13:38 PM
A pile of ashes on the ground
Is all that still remains
Of the worlds that we built together
Of our powerful domains.
We took it all for granted
And let them fall to rust.
Through ignorance and carelessness
We let our dreams combust.
We fought amongst each other
Instead of looking for support.
We treated progress as a competition
And so we all fell short
The Earth continues spinning
And we try to start anew
We brush away the flakes of yesteryear
And we promise to stay true
To the goals we set each other
When we first began
To look out for each other
And help our fellow man.

I implore that we pay attention
To why we failed before
To guard ourselves from our own mistakes
Before we make even more.
41  ObjectWriting / Object Writing Word Of The Day / Whiskers on: November 29, 2017, 08:33:25 AM
The days may be getting longer
You seem permanently stressed
But there is someone you can always turn to
When things donít seem their best.

A friend who stands beside you
When you struggle to go on.
The most loyal companion
Who will keep you safe and warm.

His fur will bring you comfort
His affection brings you joy
He will fight for your approval
To be a good boy.

You can tell him by his whiskers
And by his floppy ears
By his unconditional love
That grows stronger every year.

Yes there is a creature that brings light
To help you see through all the fog.
There is no love that is stronger
Than the love from a dog.
42  ObjectWriting / Object Writing Word Of The Day / Movie Theatre on: November 27, 2017, 12:59:56 PM
The perfect escape route
For a few hours of the day
Hiding in the darkness
Where to movies play.

See the spectacle and wonder
At the marvellous effects
Scare yourself a thousand times
Trying to work out who is next.

Come here with a partner
Or just spend some time alone
Either way you will find comfort
In the familiar cushioned thrones.

You may have seen a masterpiece
And quite a lot of crap
You may have had your first kiss here
Sat sneakily at the back.

No matter what you have experienced
Over the many years that have passed.
Rest assured that going to the cinema
Will always be a blast.
43  ObjectWriting / Object Writing Word Of The Day / Dream on: November 21, 2017, 12:44:38 PM
I am a superhero.
I always get the girl.
I am a rockstar.
I have travelled across the world.
I am the saviour
Who will silence all the screams.
I am the King
When I live in my dreams.

I have the power
To right all of my wrongs.
I am successful
The whole world knows my songs.
I am happy
Content with how I live
This is the security
That my dreams can give.

I am a liar
I am a failure and a fraud.
I am filled with anxiety
I am always bored.
I am searching for a way out
I am desperate for a break
From the nightmare I am forced to live
Whenever I am awake.
44  ObjectWriting / Object Writing Word Of The Day / Paper Airplane on: November 21, 2017, 11:00:26 AM
He tries to hide his nerves
Behind a friendly grin.
He tentatively clears his throat
Before he tries to quiet the din
Of the unruly school kids
Who he has to teach without knowing them at all.
The life of a substitute teacher can be bleak
And like talking to a wall.
He skims over the notes
That the teacher left behind
And starts to pass down the handouts
That the class had been assigned.
At first things all turn quiet
He thinks that he may have won,
But that was the calm before the storm
And now the thunder has begun.
The first handout is returned
By souring through the air.
A perfectly piece of origami
Folded into a plane.
He tries to block out the laughter
In an attempt to remain sane.
These are the days he dreads
When he knows he has no control
But he dreams of the day where they respect him
That is his final goal.
45  ObjectWriting / Object Writing Word Of The Day / Nurse on: November 18, 2017, 06:32:07 AM
My whole world was broken
When you came into my life.
Broken hearts and false starts
I had fallen on my knife.

Yet somehow you saw hope
In this fragile hollow shell.
Helped me get back on track and you nursed me back
From my own personal hell.

For this I am forever grateful
And I hope you always realise
That you have left your mark and reignited the spark
That hides behind my eyes.
