Restless Ways

It’s still warm and human scented in the place you used to be,
The ache is still arising from the empty place in me.
Silence settles softly on the start of lonely days.
It’s no burden on your shoulders, the weight of restless ways.

Cowboy in the saddle, rigger in the Gulf,
Sailor on the flight deck, my charms would be enough
To bring the stray sheep home, fill up all my days.
But your heart cannot forsake you life of restless ways.

Restless ways take you over, empty days come my way.
You might be seen in Denver, Boston or LA.
I cling to every moment I can have you near.
They’re my only shelter from the empty days I fear.

Do you ever feel your absence as the hours and days advance?
Am I ever who you ponder? Do you look back with a glance?
Does your heart grow any fonder for the teardrops that I pay,
For the ages that I suffer with the weight of restless ways?

My ambition for this song is that it be recorded by Rhonda Vincent and The Rage. Would love to get a more presentable demo if anyone wants to lay down an Audacity vocal track.
