Dirty copper pennies, discolored quarters, dimes, and nickles overflowing the change tray in my car like sailors jumping ship into the worn out mats of my 2010 Nissan Rogue. Every time I get change I just throw it in the tray to sit in waiting for the emergency when I need gas or food and forget my wallet. My car is a magnet collecting papers and green Starbucks plastic stirrers or caps for the lids, clothes, umbrellas, musical gear, and anything else that finds its way into the mobile office I call my car. Travelling to work everyday, to gigs at night make my car a second home, comfortable and peaceful, my sanctuary. That new car smell faded a long while ago, and now it smells like a pine air freshener making your nose tingle when you first get in. Sometimes I think about what it would feel like to have a taste of something new, a touch of a new leather steering wheel or the feeling of a soft gushy ride of a new car.
