Slippers on a Sunday; Bacon sizzling on the stove. The smell of coffee and the sun shining through the window. The sound of lawnmowers outside with the smell of freshly cut grass on a hot and humid summer day. There is a haze engulfing the streets, not too many cars on the road but people walk by with their dogs; collars jingling and mouths panting; tails wagging. I sit with my feet up, slippers slightly wet from the dew on the outside furniture, mosquitoes buzz by and I need to occasionally slap them down. The phone chimes and it begins with the continuous onslaught of digital stimulation and communication. I grab my guitar and finger pick a mellow tune to wake up on this summer morning, pen in hand and the taste of some nice strong coffee. Late to sleep and early to rise can make a weary mind but it seems as though that's the only thing I know.
