Your sparks fly upwards towards the stars
Reflected in my eyes.
Your warmth engulfs me one last time
As I prepare to say goodbye.
I always knew this day was coming
Yet I feel so unprepared.
The thought of turning my back on you
Leaves me sorrowful and scared.
I have sacrificed so much for you,
I have broken many hearts,
I have nearly died for you,
Yet I never want to part.
And so I sit here staring
I have no words to say
I feel the tears run down my cheeks
Yet my eyes refuse to stray.
I will savour every moment
In which you are in my sight
I will stay here until the rising sun
So I donít have to say goodnight.
I have a memento tattooed on my arm
So that I know you are always there
A part of me will always stay
Sat on that Adirondack chair.
