Runner gets worn down the center aisle
Maybe tornado damage lets it lie
Itís an old church in a new spot, new for a hundred years
Some wear and tear is always going to come.

The tornado broke the roof over the altar
But it flattened everything across the street
An aisle of destruction down to the dirt
The stone church mostly made it through.

The runner is threadbear between polished pews
Maybe you wonít notice, the light is dim
Dark pews and dark rafters, thick wooden beams
Light from the turn of the century.

On Palm Sunday thereís marching all around the church
Procession that leads to that aisle
All Glory Laud and Honor from the organ
The congregation not looking at their feet.
