Sweet sugar crust, hot from the oil. Melt-in-your-mouth, dissolving under tongue and teeth. The smell of sweet dough, dropped in sizzling hot oil. Walking to Domís Donuts in Ypsilanti, quiet streets, nighttime, sidewalks and street lights, holding hands, chatting, looking forward to sweet treats and communion. Apple fritter as big as my head, lumpy dough dense and frosted.

Voodoo donuts after beer and conversation at a brewery. Pink cardboard box full of donuts.

Cider mill in Michigan. Kidís laughing and playing, the smell of fresh green apples and baked goods. Blow up carnival games.
