Tulips

The sweet smell rises from the velvet soft petals and delicate stamens, mingling with the warm air dancing through the gaps in the rough, weathered wooden fence. The undulating earth is cold and damp, the sun gently caressing itís cheek with the back of her hand. The flowers stretch out, look into their sun motherís eyes and smile widely.

Voices are carried from the neighborhood with the sound of yard work, a much anticipated and enjoyed task. The damp ground is awakening, softening, reinvigorating and so are we. I can feel the built up knot in my muscles and brain begin to melt, my lungs and nose fill with pure air and the natural high tilts my face to the sky. Good morning, mother.
