You can write in your diary ‘till the cows come home
Then sit in the dairy a’ milkin’ em to the bone
Udderly ridiculous is all that you wrote
Cows like leaves of paper in and old notebook.

The eyes of cows are softening the butter of your soul
Lowing for the milk bucket, lowing for their stones
Milk white the empty diary page, milk white the old dog bone
That rounds its end from gnawing on the rugs of home.

Scribble in the diary, scribble day by day
Fill the sheaf of pages with what you mean to say
The cows fill their bucket, why not do the same
Then lock it in a lockbox to hide you from your shame.
