I don't crave the taste of tobacco nearly as much as I used to. Pressing paper to my tongue just doesn't take me for a ride. When your hiking over and under fallen down timber, gripping tightly onto a chainsaw with one hand, and stopping the momentum of branches and twigs from snapping you in the face with the other. The aroma of dense fog misplaces the taste and need of a smoke. The piles of yellow chipped wood half eaten up by chainsaws are covered in morning dew and make for such a natural substance that floats right below the parcels of dispensed water droplets. The crew and I take a deep breathe in. The 7 am bell is about to ring and set our minds into focus. Don't take your mind off that tree or it will surely kill you.
