Eye-searing colors of yellow, reds, blues blind side the sky, contrasting against its muggy, grey backdrop. Such as simple device, with a somewhat complex configuration, but mysterious origin. Wikipedia anyone? I can hear it trail me every day, riding along in the underside of my backpack. The synthetic, plastic like lining rubbing against my bag of similar material, created this harsh, ruffling sound every time I shifted just slightly. Annoying as it may be, rain held no chance at ruining my comfort. It wasn't heavy, but it wasn't an easy load either. Thankfully, the designers were keen enough to include a wrist strap to offer the umbrella some ability to hold on for dear life. One could say it was for me too, lest I somehow misplace it. It never fails to end up lost in one way or the other, I'm not alone on that either. For I see the husk of forgotten dollar store umbrellas lying ripped, torn, and battered lining the edges of the road in its own form of "decomposition". No matter, in my world those are just warriors without their weapons, sailors without their crafts, Mary without the Poppins, and a corporation without a logo.
