1/7 - Flag

She stands tall and proud. Feet firmly planted. Waving restlessly in strong winds. Beckoning from afar, welcoming weary travelers with open arms. Her tattered patriotic cloth wraps them tightly in a blanket of hope filled with promises of new beginnings. She sings freedomís deafening lullaby, it echos pinging across fields of gold, purple mountains and dark stormy seas. A crown of 50 stars rests upon her head. 1 for each bittersweet victory, 1 for each rotten conspiracy, 1 for each innocent truth. Our history maybe dark and filled with turmoil but our flag waves self important, arrogant to the atrocities of our nationís past. Still she sings her siren song alluring those even from the most distant corners of the globe with vows of refuge. How brightly our star spangled banner billows.
