Horse, dog or cow comes mouth first
A cat, less pronounced but also
People arrive with their noses ahead
Like the elephant or the shark.

Perhaps it is hands that have us this way
We donít feed off the ground
Hand to mouth, yes, but food is prepared
For a receded mouth.

A dog with a spoon just knows to lick
Even if it hold ice cream
No closing of lips and holding a moment
The cool of the tip of the spoon.

A spoon of ice cream, perhaps quarter full
Mounted for maximum flavor
No dog can appreciate that delivery
With its mouth built to eat forward.
