In Primary School, surrounded by the same 20 classmates between grades One and Five, it's rare to not see someone's house. Especially with constant wild sleepovers between houses, wild like asking your Dad for money when your Mum said no. Approaching your house I felt the mystery, the insecurity of the unknown. I recall the front of our house, white with an orange/red highlight. It was two storey's with a staircase leading up to the front door. The smell, at once musty and fragrant, like a perfume designed to titillate the senses but with the wrong ingredient choking your nose. Mice, nestled in their cage beside the door on a bed of artificial hay. They reeked, an assault on the nose but pushed aside by the giddy excitement of meeting a new animal. I wanted to hold them, their furry little bodies cupped in my hands...

Man, I struggled with this one. It probably would have been easier if I used Mouse as "being as quiet as", instead of the actual animal. Lesson learned!
