I remember driving up the steep road, wedged between cousins, sense of personal space invaded by denim and pizza breathe. Ears popping, like a wine bottle being uncorked, air pushing into my sinuses. White patches on dark slopes, colors and shades fading into blinding ice. The ski lifts, spinning like mechanical bulls in slow motion, legs swinging, dangling, vertigo when you look down. Gloved fingers turn link with pain, needles slowly numbing, air visible from my nostrils. Later the feeling returns under hot water, warm blood raising back up. Chains on tires and skid marks on the road, taste of hot chocolate and coal in the air, breathe steaming up the car windshield, blurry houses visible in shapes and muted colors.

Really like the movement of this one. The ending was so satisfying after setting up the sensory ideas - coming back home to a hot shower after a long day on the slopes. Very relatable!
