One small step forward. Thatís all that there is to it, one small step repeated many times. Donít think about it, donít look down. Just a small step, confident and steady. Think where you want to be, and just do it. Calmness, breathe in, breathe out, thatís all that matters. No sound, no thoughts, just the steady breath and the heartbeat. The rest of the body just obeys as I slowly walk across the balance beam, scared but determined. It is the fear that drags you down, not gravity. It is the little voice inside your head that whispers ďyou canít do itĒ. Another step, and slowly I bend my knees lowering my body closer to the beam. Now it is the moment of truth. I mute the voice of doubt and jump. Hands coordinate with legs, the body blindly follows the routine that has been practicing so many times before but in smaller chunks and on safer grounds. It is now that all the pieces fall togetherÖ.
