Staring at the mess in front of me. Years of neglect, smells you become immune to, dirty t shirts, soda cans still with stale root beer this was a slow cyclone. My walls, littered with posters from high school, paper curling down where the tape has ripped off. I can't imagine the real devastation of a town getting torn up, roofs uncovered, furniture and broken t.v.s littering sidewalks, signs twisted into odd shapes. Dogs wandering around looking for owners, displaced people stomach's rumbling in line for cold soup. I step over some old forgotten cardboard boxes. This is bad enough.
