The string tasted curiously sweet. Like dried sugar was on it. 8 year old Janie had tied it around 7 year old Joey’s loose tooth. The other end was tied to a door knob. Joey could feel the slight tension on his tooth as she carefully moved the door slightly open. No one else was home and the room was still dark at 7 am. Then she slammed the door. Joey felt a quick sharp spike of pain at his gum line. The tooth sailed out of his mouth and hit the door. Joey smiled a now toothy grin. He could also taste a slight amount of blood in his mouth. “You did it!” he said, cheerfully. “And we didn’t have to go to the dentist!”, he continued. Janie smiled proudly her blonde curly locks swaying softly. “Woof, woof!” agreed the dog, Spot.
