Object writing 12/7/19

Support, back, teeth, prepare, brace yourself, impact, catastrophic, unease, suspicion

Those final moments before the crash
Time stretched out to its peak
What was only a few short minutes
Seemed to last more than a week.
I saw the wreckage ahead of us
That would throw us from the tracks
I could see our future killer
And it was staring back.
I tried to brace myself for impact
But I knew there was no use
Even with a lifetime of preparation
The screws would still come loose
As I lay here in the hospital
Where they treat my shattered frame
I beg to think what path we could have taken
That would have saved us from this pain.
Was there an alternative
Where we didn’t fall of the cliff?
I lie here as a condemned man
Sentenced to ask ‘what if?’
