Hot dusty highway, the sky frowns as my eyes squint through the bright windshield glow. Breath smells of salsa and refried beans, sweating spicy jalepenos and greasy chicken, about as authentic as any Mexican food I've had. South of the border they may make it even better, down in a nondescript kitchen with wooden chairs, slow fans turning the heatwave in circles, fresh fumes of chopped cilantro and lemon, where chatter is full of rolled R's and J's that sound like L's. Tijuana, with rusty tin-roofed houses jimmy-rigged into low-hanging power lines for electricity, card board coverings, smell of rotting garbage, across town sit men in spotless white--
