It was a red Dodge Ram truck. I was with my brother and Larry. It was Larry's truck, and they were going to a triathlon- I was going too, but just to hold bikes up, and water bottles and cheer. Like a red ant, carrying big dreams, we had bicycles on our back. I was just the little brother, but big enough to drive, but young enough that a 3 speed column shift was a novelty. I don't remember much about the race. My brother told me a few weeks ago, we had been driving on part of the Natchez Trace. But I do remember the seat- red slick plastic, like the best old burger joint in town. Red shaggy carpet, like we were riding on Clifford the big red dog. And it was a bench seat- I remember because these two older traveling companions wanted me to drive, but didn't want to stop, and I was sitting by the passenger window, enjoying the constant breeze through the triangle window. I slid across that red bench seat, hoping the Ram would stay on the road, as I passed over and under other bodies on
