I think I see the puck go by, but it is really just a blue streak, thanks to modern computers and tv magic. My friends say it's better in real life. My mind wanders. I didn't grow up with hockey. I don't get it. I don't understand how you can have three quarters and two half times. I do like game watching food- the salty fat, the beer. I crunch my own power play on some potato chips, I imagine they are little snowplows covered with onion dip snow. My body recoils with the crunch of body blows, even though I hover behind the protective glass of the tv screen. Hard black rubber, the puck looks like a Hostess ding dong, with everyone wildly chasing it, but no one picking it up but one, and it looks like a few of the hungry players tried to take a bite out of it.
